Knowing how to code, or at least understanding the basics, is becoming increasingly important for many professionals. Learning to code is very similar to learning a new language—there’s no better time to do this than when you’re a child.
I have colleagues who put their kids on this site as part of their education, and you would be doing your children a favor by doing the same. No matter what field they may find themselves in, having a basic knowledge of coding is incredibly useful and a great way to get ahead and stand out.
Technology has a language. It’s called code. And we believe coding is an essential skill. Learning to code teaches you how to solve problems and work together in creative ways. (Apple)
Some tech companies are trying to do just this—encourage kids to learn code at an early age… Probably because other countries are way ahead of the U.S. in this area.
Apple, for example, is encouraging everyone to learn their coding language, Swift, with their “Everyone Can Code” initiative. Their educational app, Swift Playgrounds, is available on the App Store.

CodeAcademy.com is an excellent resource that can teach anyone the basics of popular programming languages if you put in the time and effort, and it’s free. This interactive, web-based platform is excellent, and about as fun and clear cut as it gets.
